Silky sweet mangoes

Sweet and luscious, mangoes add color, texture and flavor to many salsas, salads, soups, beverages and desserts. In March, look for dainty, golden yellow, sweet and creamy Ataulfo mangoes (also known as Honey or Manila mangoes), with other varieties arriving as the weather warms. Find delicious mango recipes, including Thai Chicken Mango Salad and Asparagus Sauteed with Mango and Capers, in our recipe database.

Also coming in March: Honeygold grapefruit from South Tex Organics, Cara Cara navel oranges, Minneola Tangelos, and, late in the month, organic strawberries.

yogurt

In the grocery aisles
Greek-style yogurt

Have you gone Greek? Greek-style yogurts typically are strained through cloth or paper to remove the whey, creating a rich, creamy texture closer to sour cream or custard than conventional yogurts, making them handy for cooking, garnishing and baking — if you manage to have any left over from breakfast.

This more traditional style of yogurt has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years due to its high protein and calcium content and creamy decadence; all that straining leaves even the nonfat varieties abundantly creamy. Like all yogurt at PCC, our Greek-style options contain live active cultures. Find it from Chobani, Fage, Liberte (goat's milk), Oikos, The Greek Gods and a new, locally made option: Zoi.
