The holidays are upon us once again. It’s a time for celebration, family, friends and eating ... and eating and eating and eating! Special family recipes passed down from one generation to the next may be an excuse to indulge — a luxury indeed and one afforded to most of us only recently.

In a community with many grocery stores, what exactly makes choosing to shop at our local co-op so important? Is it that PCC is dedicated to partnering with local growers and producers? Is it that our co-op supports the local economy and community organizations?

Thanksgiving for good works

As I sat next to Nash Huber recently at the Vim Wright Stewardship Award dinner in his honor, he turned to me and stated simply, “You know, if it wasn’t for you folks, I don’t think we would be farming anymore.” Even though Nash was expressing his appreciation for the supporters of the PCC Farmland Trust, I was the one struck with thankfulness.
