Extended through March 2005 — 10% discount coupon for members
Sound Consumer | December 2004
(December 2004) — During the last quarter of 2004, on a trial basis, PCC began offering our members the chance to save 10 percent each month on a shopping trip of their choice. This discount was in addition to our regular monthly member bonus days on the 15th and 16th of each month.
In order to make sure that our co-op can afford this member benefit on a permanent basis, we will continue to test this offer for the next three months.
Because most grocery stores — including PCC — operate on minimal profit margins (usually around 1 to 2 percent), it is important that we evaluate our sales to see if our co-op can afford this additional discount. It is also important to look at our sales during non-holiday months, to make sure our projections are accurate.
As we work to give members the benefits that they want, we are also taking a closer look at the current PCC benefits package. Guided by our ultimate goal — to offer members meaningful, convenient ways to save in our stores — we are making some changes to our current benefits.
Beginning in January, the $1 off member coupons usually found on page three of your home-delivered Sound Consumer will be discontinued. We will also discontinue our Community Connections program.
These changes will allow our co-op to focus on the benefits that are most important to our members — such as the additional 10 percent shopping discount.
