PCC's top-quality fresh seafood
All of our seafood is from sustainable fisheries per the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program. We don’t carry varieties with unsafe levels of PCBs or mercury. View our Seafood Brochure to learn more about nutrition and sustainability.
What makes our seafood sustainable?
- We bring you fresh seafood from local suppliers who follow Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch guidelines. Our canned and frozen seafood, from salmon to oysters to fishsticks, complies with the same high standards as our fresh seafood.
- We carry only sustainable canned tuna, including Sweet Creek, Sustainable Seas, Sea Fare and Wild Planet — all are pole-caught albacore or skipjack. We also carry a pole-caught, oil-packed yellowfin tuna that is rated a "Best Choice" by Seafood Watch.
- Our sushi selection complies with Seafood Watch standards as well. At PCC, you will never find sushi made with sea eel, octopus, yellowtail tuna, or shrimp not from the United States or Canada.
- PCC takes special care to seek out providers of farmed shellfish species that meet the highest standards for sustainability. Our shrimp comes from Woods Fisheries, and catfish from Carolina Classics, both of which are rated a "Best Choice."
Quality you can trust
In 2004, PCC Natural Markets became the first full retail partner in the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program, which rates seafood choices according to environmental criteria, including the catch method and the abundance of a fish population. Learn more about our quality standards.
