Juicy, refreshing grapefruit

There's a reason we turn to grapefruit when we want to feel healthy. Beyond its delicious taste, this pleasingly plump citrus fruit is replete with vitamin C and also offers dietary fiber, vitamin A, potassium, folate and other health benefits.

Tart and tangy, grapefruit delivers refreshment in abundance. Slice one open and inhale its zest for an instant pick-me-up. Add juicy sections to your next salad, or drizzle honey over half a grapefruit and broil until bubbling for a delightful dessert.

Meet our grower

Dennis and Lynda Holbrook

Deep in the Lone Star State, Dennis and Lynda Holbrook of South Tex Organics farm 500 acres of organic citrus, including the sweetest, most succulent grapefruit around. It's a family tradition for Dennis, who grew up in a citrus and row-crop farming family and established his own organic citrus business in 1984.

Rio Star is a blend of two Texas varieties — Rio Red and Star Ruby — which accounts for its signature deep red color. That ruby red color indicates the presence of lycopene, an antioxidant and phytonutrient that possesses anti-tumor activity.

Studies show that a diet rich in lycopene can help combat prostate cancer and protect the skin from damage caused by exposure to ultraviolet light.
