Winter skin care

woman

With cold temperatures and dry air, wintertime can be the skin's worst enemy. Thankfully, there are a multitude of natural products to help moisturize and nourish the body's largest organ.

Coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter are key ingredients that contain essential oils, vitamins A, C, D and E, and protein to protect and restore your skin. Oil-based moisturizers also are a better choice during the colder months instead of lotion, as oil helps your skin retain moisture. Of course wearing gloves, layering clothes, drinking plenty of water and using a humidifier also can help your skin stay healthy and hydrated.

Balms, butters and body oils

At PCC we have a great selection of products to help moisturize your skin during the winter:

Wild Carrot Herbals Ginger Body Butter

A great option for those living in the Northwest, this rich butter is great for extra-dry skin. Ginger-infused oil helps warm up and stimulate circulation, and a combination of organic coconut oil, raw shea butter and virgin cocoa butter nourish the skin. Locally made in northwestern Oregon.

Organic Fiji Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

This coconut oil quickly hydrates and conditions the skin, and protects it from moisture loss. Choose from several different scents including lemongrass tangerine and lavender.

Alaffia's natural, raw shea butter is fairly traded, produced by a women's cooperative in Togo, Africa. Choose from an assortment of handcrafted shea butters, and also look for Cocoa Butter Body Cream which helps soften the skin.
