Celebrate Black History Month

Patrice Savery
For ages 8 to 12; children work independently of parents. To commemorate Black History Month, this class highlights some of the traditions of African-American food, which is steeped in the practice of sustainable agriculture. Eating foods cultivated on plantations, in gardens and on family farms played a key role in African-American culture. Kids will work together to create a delicious meal with Patrice’s family recipes of Johnny Cakes with Black-eyed Peas, Citrus Kale Salad, Sweet Potato Pie and Crispy Apple Fritters, while learning about some of the culinary traditions of African-American culture. Vegetarian, with dairy and eggs.
