Healthy Kids Cook
ParentMap and PCC have partnered to produce a web series called Healthy Kids Cook, designed to encourage families to make a healthy habit of cooking fresh food together. Each month, PCC Chef Jackie Freeman hosts families in the PCC kitchen to create an easy, kid-friendly recipe featuring seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Mini Corn Quiches (05:03)
These easy quiches ditch traditional pie crust for lightly buttered whole wheat toast. PCC Chef Jackie Freeman and her kid helper Cainen make quick work of them, and Cainen gets to try cracking eggs for the first time. Mom's role? She gets to help "next time!"
Summertime Fritters (05:09)
Gad zukes! A food processor and a few common ingredients help these fritters come together with ease. PCC Chef Jackie Freeman gets lots of assistance with vegetable prep from her helper Jasper and his mom, Claudia. Jasper loved these fritters – we hope your family does, too!
Mango and Avocado Fresh Rolls (05:35)
Eat a rainbow! Mango and avocado fresh rolls are a fun, hands-on recipe, great for dinner, lunch or snacking. Not only are these rolls beautiful, but they're amazingly easy to make. Learn how as PCC Chef Jackie Freeman works with 7-year-old Calla and her dad, Jason.
Strawberry Oat Bars (04:44)
Kids and adults alike will be won over by these delicious oat bars, which are great to pop into lunch bags or nosh on after school. PCC Chef Jackie Freeman invited Elijah, Tate and their mother Basilia to the PCC kitchen to help prepare this scrumptious recipe.
Frozen Banana Pops (04:59)
Kids welcome this tasty treat any time, and parents appreciate that it’s packed with protein and fiber. It’s also a fun, hands-on recipe that even very young children can make. PCC Chef Jackie Freeman invited Sameeksha and her mother Padmaja to the kitchen to help prepare this naturally sweet snack.
Ladybug Pancakes (06:27)
Beets offer a unique mix of antioxidants thanks to the family of nutrients called belatins. They also offer a lot of color, which is perfect for making Ladybug Pancakes. PCC Chef Jackie Freeman, along with sisters Tansy and Lola, shows you how to make this fun, kid-friendly recipe.
