This light and flavorful sauce is perfect drizzled over a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. We’ve substituted maple syrup and apple juice for the traditional sugar sweetener, making this a more naturally delicious choice.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh organic strawberries, hulled Add to list
- 2 tablespoons organic maple syrup Add to list
- 2 tablespoons organic apple juice, plus additional as needed Add to list
- 2 teaspoons Grand Marnier (for an optional kick) Add to list
- Fresh strawberry slices for garnish Add to list
Preparation
In a food processor, combine the strawberries, maple syrup and apple juice. Process until mixture is smooth, being careful not to over-process the berries or they will discolor. Add more apple juice as necessary if sauce is too thick.
Strain mixture through a fine sieve into a nonreactive bowl, such as glass or porcelein. Stir in liqueur, if desired. The coulis will keep in the refrigerator for up to three days.
