Orange Simple Syrup
Equally tasty with chocolate, citrus, or pumpkin-based quick breads, this leftover syrup can be used to sweeten tea or hot toddies.
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water and orange peel over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Continue cooking, without stirring, until mixture boils. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat, discard peel and stir in Grand Marnier. Let cool to room temperature. Syrup can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.
