Orange Simple Syrup
Yield: 2 cups
For extra flavor and moisture, brush this orange syrup on pound cake or chocolate, pumpkin or spiced loaf cakes. Leftover syrup can be used to sweeten tea or hot toddies.
In a saucepan, combine sugar, water and orange peel over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Continue cooking, without stirring, until mixture boils. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat, discard peel and stir in Grand Marnier. Let cool to room temperature. Syrup can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
