Seppo Ed Farrey developed this frosting for his Coconut Pecan Carrot Cake. If the frosting is too sweet, it hides the subtle undertones of the cake, so be careful not to add too much honey.


  • 12 ounces cream cheese, room temperature Add to list
  • 2 tablespoons honey, or to taste Add to list
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract Add to list
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons grated orange zest or 1 teaspsoon orange extract Add to list


Beat all the ingredients together using an electric mixer, until smooth. Spread on the cooled cake.


If the cream cheese is not completely soft and room temperature, it cannot be beaten completely smooth. Plan ahead and take it out of the fridge!
