A fruity, spicy-sweet treat.
Ingredients
- 1 pound dried dates, preferably pitted Add to list
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom Add to list
- 1 teaspoon orange zest Add to list
- 1 cup blanched almonds Add to list
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds Add to list
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut Add to list
Preparation
Place the pitted dates, cardamom and orange zest in a food processor and chop to form a course paste. If you do not have a food processor, chop finely with a knife.
Take small pieces of the paste and roll to make small balls, like meatballs (wet your hands to keep them from sticking). Enclose 1 or more almonds in the middle of each ball. Roll some of the balls in sesame seeds and some in coconut.
Store in a sealed container until ready to serve for dessert.
