About Karen

Karen Gaudette (aka @nwfoodette on Twitter) spent the past decade as a journalist, writing about everything from forest fires and transportation to real estate and the California energy crisis. But food remains her favorite topic, and you might recognize her byline from her food coverage at The Seattle Times. Karen grew up in the prettiest Washington town you've probably never heard of (Olalla), where she and her dad planted their vegetable garden each year the day of the Kentucky Derby. She recently took a liking to kale and chard, and now wonders how she ever lived without them.
