kid shopping

We know how challenging it can be to get your kids to try new foods, especially if you have a picky eater on your hands.

That’s why in 2004, PCC established the PCC Kid Picks program, to help parents navigate the world of natural foods and find healthy choices their entire family will love. Through the program, kids taste-test a wide variety of foods and vote on them. Currently we have close to 1,700 products in PCC stores that have been kid-approved. Not only are these items likely to receive a thumbs up from your child but they also represent healthier alternatives.

Over the years, “healthy” food has been labeled as being bland, boring and tasteless. But at PCC, we know the opposite to be true, that fresh, healthy foods burst with flavor and color, and most of all, are satisfying. The PCC Kid Picks program has helped demonstrate this to children. Countless kids have gone through the Kid Picks sampling line with doubt on their face, only to try a new food and say, “Wow! That’s good!” These moments demonstrate the amount of impact we can have on how they eat.

The eating habits our children develop while still young will impact their health and wellness throughout their lives. The benefits of eating healthy have both immediate and long-term effects. Children’s ability to concentrate on homework, their endurance in a soccer game, and their behavior all are influenced by the foods they eat. Further down the line, issues such as diabetes, weight control and even fertility can be influenced by their dietary habits.

In May, your purchase of PCC Kid Picks-approved products will support the local community through a partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital called Families Helping Families. Five percent of Kid Picks product sales, up to a total of $10,000, will support two Seattle Children’s nutrition outreach programs that help participants eat better for life. This program is an easy way for your family to help other families while enjoying delicious, healthy food. Just look for the colorful Kid Picks logo on kid-tested and approved items when you shop at PCC.
