Telling the PCC story — and working with others to write new chapters — is how I spend my time at PCC. I love what I do and have been proud and happy to be a member and employee of our cooperative for going on six years. I’m proud of what PCC stands for and of the many ways its values are demonstrated, and I’m happy with the direction in which it’s going.

The opportunity to participate in the selection of board member nominees, who will play a big part in keeping PCC a vibrant and vital organization well into the future, is a responsibility I’d be honored to have.

Having served on several nonprofit and professional boards, I understand how essential a balance of skills, talents, energy — and reality — is to constituting an attentive board that provides leadership and vision to an organization. I will draw on my experience, that of my fellow committee members, and my commitment to PCC to help recruit and select board candidates who deserve the trust and confidence of our members.

A member of PCC for seven years, I truly appreciate PCC’s cooperative business model. Providing high-quality natural and organic food; supporting local, sustainable agriculture and fair trade; educating consumers; supporting community; and operating in an environmentally and socially responsible manner — these are important reasons PCC is so vital to our community. I’d like PCC to thrive and remain a strong alternative to the national, profit-driven grocery chains.

I would welcome the opportunity to serve on the nominating committee to help recruit and select potential board candidates. I realize how important the trustees are in setting the long-range vision of the cooperative and in ensuring PCC’s continued success.

I have experience in providing human resources support to large organizations and in helping to shape the leadership and management of those organizations. I served as a human resources director for Microsoft for 8-1/2 years, and previously managed human resources at Battelle and The Ohio State University for a total of 18 years experience in the field. Currently I own and operate a small organic clothing business.

I’d like to share my skills, experience and especially my commitment to PCC in a way that can enhance and benefit the cooperative.

I joined PCC as a member more than 30 years ago. In the 1980s, I was employed by a cooperative that supplied PCC with natural grocery products. I also served on the board of directors for that co-op distributor. Later, I represented several natural product manufacturers and worked closely with PCC’s buying staff through 2002.

I care a great deal about the long-term success of PCC. Members of PCC’s Board of Trustees need a broad understanding of business practices as well as receptivity to the unique characteristics of the co-op model. It is my hope that we can recruit trustee candidates with the imagination and insight to build on PCC’s positive role in the community.

I would like to use my experience with cooperatives and the natural products industry to contribute to PCC’s sustainability.

I am a retired ombudsman from Lucent Technologies. For 17 years, I worked as a neutral to solve disputes in the workplace. My experience with negotiation, conflict resolution and organizational development was helpful when I was elected to the PCC Board of Trustees in 2003. I served a full three-year term, and was elected board chair in my third year.

Last year I was delighted to support PCC again when, after one of the nominating committee members was unable to complete her term, the current board asked me to fill that open spot.

PCC is a unique organization that serves members, customers, staff and the community. As a member of the nominating committee, I will be looking for potential trustees who understand PCC’s commitment to provide pure healthy food in an environmentally responsible way and want to further PCC’s success in this market.

It is an honor to serve this organization and I look forward to being a part of the nominating/ trustee selection process.

Visionary leadership from our board and nominating committee members will play a major role in the success of our co-op in the coming years.
