About this location

In the winter of 2011, the 21-year old West Seattle location completed a total transformation – in which every department was relocated. The remodeling project included:

• Installation of highly energy-efficient refrigerated cases.
• LED lighting in all freezer and refrigerated cases.
• State-of-the-art teaching kitchen equipped with all Energy Star-rated appliances.
• Locally-made cabinetry made from 100% recycled wood fiber throughout the store.
• Countertops made of Silestone (GreenGuard Indoor Air Quality Certified).
• Porcelain floor tiles which require no waxing maintenance.
• Locally-made, 100% recycled glass decorative tiles.
• Bamboo classroom tables and display cases throughout the store.
• Outdoor area for customer seating and special events surrounded by roll-up garage doors for weather protection.
• Mitsubishi Jet Towels (for hygiene and paper waste reduction); Seattle-based NovuStone counter tops (made from locally sourced recycled content); and water-saving, dual-flush toilets in customer restrooms.
• Central system that provides filtered water to all food prep areas in the store (deli, produce, classroom).
• Low or no VOC paints and finishes.
• Lowered aisle shelving and wider aisles that create a brighter, safer, more pleasant shopping experience.
