Biofuels vs food

To reduce its dependence on foreign oil, the United States and other countries have expanded production of biofuels, which are made out of corn and other crops, usually genetically modified.

Many people oppose biofuels, arguing that turning crops into fuel has inflated food prices and created more environmental problems.
