Side Effects

If used in the recommended amounts, peony is not associated with side effects. It is not known whether peony is safe for use during pregnancy, though there is an uncontrolled study showing it could safely be used to lower blood pressure in pregnant women.52

Shakuyaku-kanzo-to should be taken only while under the care of a healthcare professional trained in herbal medicine.
