PCC Food Bank Program
With your donation, PCC purchases nutritious bulk foods that are most needed at each food bank such as grains, beans, pasta, raisins, pancake mix and much more at discounted wholesale prices.
One hundred percent of all funds donated to the PCC Food Bank Program goes directly to the food banks in the form of food or cash; none is used for administrative costs.
Food Bank Program wins award
In February 2014, The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) announced the six winners of its 2013 Community Outreach Awards. The awards recognize the creative, charitable programs established and carried out by food retailers to enhance the lives of those in the communities they serve. PCC is proud to have our Food Bank Program recognized as one of the winners in the Food Insecurity category.
Every time you reuse a bag at PCC, a five cent donation is made, which is divided equally between the PCC Food Bank Program and PCC Farmland Trust. Between this no-fuss donation and additional customer donations, we collected an impressive $137,386.30 for our partner food banks in 2013. FMI’s Community Outreach award includes a $1,000 donation to this program.
One hundred percent of these funds go towards our purchases of bulk foods at wholesale prices: over the last year, the program purchased almost 72,000 pounds of healthy pantry staples like beans, raisins, granola, soup mix and lentils. The food is repackaged into family-sized portions at volunteer work parties that are scheduled every other month for each of the food banks we partner with.
PCC welcomes a new partner food bank
PCC is very happy to welcome the North Helpline Food Bank, also known as the Lake City Food Bank, as our 11thápartner in the PCC Food Bank Program. Through customer donations, PCC will purchase bulk foods and hold packaging parties bi-monthly at the food bank.

“ Everyone deserves good food year-round. ”
Every other month, PCC purchases bulk food at wholesale prices and with the help of volunteers, packages it into family-sized portions for distribution at each partner food bank.
Meet our 11 partner food banks and consider volunteering at one of our monthly packaging parties.
There are many ways to get involved from reusing a bag to donating non-perishable products.
Make a difference when you donate to the PCC Food Bank Program. Each dollar donated buys about two pounds of basic bulk food that will give nourishment — and hope — to a hungry family in our community.
