PCC Food Bank Program

Two children, woman and food

A generous year — 2009 update

The PCC Food Bank Program is committed to reducing hunger in our community. With funds raised through the program, PCC purchases nutritious bulk foods such as grains, beans, rice, pasta, raisins, pancake mix and much more at discounted prices. These foods are then packaged by PCC volunteers and given to local food banks each month. One hundred percent of all funds donated go directly to the food banks in the form of food or cash; none is used for administrative costs.

Ways to help

Reuse a bag

The easiest way to make a difference with the PCC Food Bank Program simply is by reusing a bag. For every bag you reuse, a five-cent refund automatically is donated, equally shared by the PCC Food Bank Program and the PCC Farmland Trust. Read more.

Give a monetary donation

There are three different ways you can donate money to the PCC Food Bank Program:

  • At the register say you'll "donate the difference." Your purchase total will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and the difference will be donated automatically. Save the receipt for your tax records.
  • At the register add a donation of any amount to your purchase total. Save the receipt for your tax records.
  • Donate online.

Donate non-perishable products

Each store has a food bank bin where you can drop off non-perishable food or non-food items. These are the most commonly needed items:

  • Canned proteins, such as tuna, peanut butter, beans and chicken
  • Canned soup, vegetables and fruit
  • Baby food, infant formula and diapers
  • Canned prepared foods, such as chili or stew
  • Hot or cold cereals
  • Canned or powdered milk
  • Cooking oil
  • Dried foods, such as noodles, pasta and crackers
  • Toiletries, such as soap, toothpaste and toilet paper

Volunteer to package bulk foods

Every other month, PCC volunteers meet at local food banks to package bulk foods purchased with PCC Food Bank Program donations. Click on the store link below to view that store's scheduled packaging party dates.
