Reiki master, yoga enthusiast, and frequent co-host with her husband Dr. Oz on his show on Oprah & Friends, Lisa has co-authored three New York Times best selling books, including “Healing from the Heart" which explores the combination of Eastern and Western traditions to create the medicine of the future.

Project Amigo/GROW fair labor event

Come honor this presentation by Project Amigo, the organization that administers GROW foundation money to improve the lives of banana workers in Mexico.

The GROW foundation is funded by sales of the GROW banana purchased by shoppers like you at PCC. GROW has helped fund college scholarships and clean water systems in Mexico.

Bikes for Education update

Thank you PCC members for making our bike donation drives at PCC Issaquah and West Seattle a success. More than 200 families donated 374 bikes to the Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care Company’s Bikes for Education program so children in Togo, Africa, can get to school.

Alaffia’s founder, Olowo-n’djo, now begins the process of crating, shipping and delivering the bikes to Togo. If you didn’t have a bike to donate, but would like to make a donation to help cover shipping costs, visit www.empowermentalliance.org.

KIRKLAND PCC

Celebrate PCC Kirkland’s 30th anniversary
To honor PCC Kirkland’s 30th anniversary, we’re delighted to sponsor two wonderful community events. The PCC Kid Picks Mobile will be at both events for kids to sample a variety of healthy treats.

  • Kirkland half marathon
    Sunday, May 11, races begin at 7 a.m.

    Juanita Beach Park

    Kirkland’s half marathon has something for everyone! Choose from a half marathon run, a half marathon walk, a 5K run/walk, and a free kid’s dash. PCC will provide fresh fruit to participants. After the races, swing by PCC Kirkland to celebrate the store’s 30th anniversary with some delicious cake! For fees and registration visit www.kirklandhalfmarathon.com.
  • Pirate party
    Saturday, May 31, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m

    North Kirkland Community Center

    This Pirate Party will feature entertainment by Captain Bogg and Salty — a nationally known pirate band from Portland — a free pirate’s picnic lunch, and hands-on children’s activities including face painting and crafts.

    The Pirate Party kicks off a PCC-sponsored community program called “Sail the Seven Seas,” which will provide recreation experiences for the entire family. For more information, visit www.kirklandparks.net or call 425-587-3350.

PCC has teamed up with Reading Tree, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children’s literacy by getting books into kids’ hands. Reading Tree collects used books and redistributes them to local schools and community centers in need.

Reading Tree will grind and recycle books that cannot be reused, preventing any donation from going to landfills. Donation bins will be located at PCC’s Redmond, View Ridge and West Seattle stores. For more information, visit www.readingtree.org.
