Grillin' and Chillin': Redmond PCC events to benefit local nonprofits

(Seattle, Wash., May 20, 2009) — PCC Natural Markets (PCC) is firing up the grill this summer for a good cause - a portion of the proceeds from each meal sold during its summertime "Grillin' and Chillin'" events at the Redmond store will be donated to a local, community nonprofit.

The events will take place outside the Redmond PCC on Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Grillin’ and Chillin’ starts Friday, June 5 and will run through Sunday, August 30, excluding the weekend of July 4.

Meals will cost $7 for adults and $3 for children, a total of $3 from each plate sold will be donated to a designated nonprofit. For the month of June, proceeds will benefit Hopelink Redmond Food Bank, for July, the proceeds will be donated to Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center and the beneficiary for August is Friends of Youth.

The monthly meals will feature fresh and natural ingredients. June is Viva el Sol, a sunny celebration with Vera Cruz grilled chicken or vegetables, Fiesta Salad, our fresh guacamole and Black Bean and Corn Salad. July is Backyard Barbeque with classics that include a hot dog or hamburger (vegetarian options provided for both), Red, White and Black Baked Beans and our own macaroni salad and coleslaw. August is Serious Chillin’ – Italian Style with grilled sockeye salmon or Portobello mushroom, Rice a Roma and Italian Broccoli with Roasted Pepper and Artichoke Tapenade.
