Monster Cookie & Milk Event to benefit Seattle Tilth
Three companies unite to make a very large cookie and to raise money for local non-profit
Seattle, Wash., June 27, 2008 — The combined efforts of three companies ... Immaculate Baking Company (Immaculate), Organic Valley, and PCC Natural Markets (PCC) ... will result in the baking of 10-foot-wide chocolate chip cookie that will be divided and sold to raise funds for Seattle Tilth.
The "Monster Cookie & Milk Event" will be hosted by PCC at its Issaquah, Wash. store on July 6, from noon to 3 p.m. The Issaquah PCC is located at 1810 12th Avenue N.W. in the Pickering Place shopping center.
"We are happy to join forces with two of our valued vendors, Immaculate Baking Company and Organic Valley, in this special fundraising event," said Tom Monahan, PCC's community relations manager. "All proceeds from selling portions of the monster cookie will directly benefit one of PCC's long-standing community partners, Seattle Tilth.
Seattle Tilth is a 30-year-old non-profit organization that, through its demonstration gardens and extensive organic gardening programs, is "dedicated to cultivating a sustainable community, one garden at a time", according to Karen Luetjen, executive director. Seattle Tilth's services, that include classes, workshops, publications and a garden hotline, are funded largely through donations.
Immaculate Baking Co. is supplying the oven and cookie dough for the "Monster Cookie," and Organic Valley is donating organic milk. Samples of both milk and cookies will be available to all event visitors; large cookie portions will be sold for $20 each. Cookie buyers will also be given a goody bag with their purchase.
This event originated in 2003 when Immaculate baked the world's biggest cookie (38,500 pounds and 102 feet wide) for an fundraising event for the Folk Artist's Foundation. Organic Valley and Immaculate began partnering on smaller 10-foot cookie baking events in 2007, with the intention of raising money for organizations that receive little public funding and work with children.
