Seattle, Wash., November 5, 2007 — PCC Natural Markets has been honored with a "Gold" award for and Honorable Mention in the "Honorable Mention" in the 2007 MarCom Creative Awards competition, for its PCC Cooks program catalog and Sound Consumer member newsletter, respectively.

The MarCom Creative Awards is an international awards competition that acknowledges outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Judges are marketing industry professionals who recognize companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. More than 5,000 entries in a variety of categories were submitted in the 2007 competition, from throughout the U.S. and several other countries.

The Fall 2007 PCC Cooks class catalog won in the competition's "Brochure/Catalog" category, and the July 2007 Sound Consumer was honored in the "External Newsletter/Association" category. "Our PCC Cooks program features dozens of different classes that inspire experienced and beginning cooks alike," said Marilyn McCormick, PCC Cooks program manager. "The success of the 800 classes offered each year begins with the excitement generated by our colorful, informative, easy-to-use catalogs that make the prospect of a thoroughly enjoyable experience literally jump off the page."

PCC's Sound Consumer has been in publication since 1961. It is distributed to PCC's 40,000 members monthly and is available in each of PCC's eight King County, Wash., locations. Its editorial content is generated by experts, some on staff at PCC, on subjects ranging from consumer food safety to farm preservation.

"The Sound Consumer has been a reliable source of information on food, nutrition and agriculture for 45 years," said Trudy Bialic, Sound Consumer editor and PCC's public affairs director. "It's an honor to be recognized by communication industry professionals, but we feel rewarded each month by tremendous response from loyal readers locally and literally throughout the world."

Almost all the design and copy of the PCC Cooks catalog and the Sound Consumer are the work of PCC's internal creative dept.
