Seward Park PCC Supports Audubon Center
Seattle, Wash., September 28, 2006 — PCC Natural Markets will donate 5 percent of its Seward Park store sales on Sunday, October 8, to support the Seward Park Environmental & Audubon Center. PCC's donation will help finance the renovation of the historic landmark building at the entrance to Seward Park, and the creation of an environmental education center. The Center is a joint partnership between the City of Seattle Department of Parks and Audubon Washington.
"We're thrilled about this opportunity to support this exciting endeavor that will bring environmental education to the youth and residents of southeast Seattle," said Scott McCormick, Seward Park store director. "PCC and Audubon have similar goals around conservation, education, and sustainable resources. The re-use of an existing building, and Audubon Washington's commitment to combine sustainable design and construction, together with their commitment to being an integral part of the neighborhood, inspired our investment in this project."
The Seward Park PCC is located at 5041 Wilson Avenue South and open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Seward Park Audubon Center staff and board members will be on hand at the store on October 8, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to provide information about the Center, publicize the Seward Park Field Guide, and bag groceries.
"We're proud to have the PCC as a supporter," said Gail Gatton, director of the Seward Park Center. "They are good neighbors and the potential for partnering with them on future projects and programs is exciting to contemplate. Their contribution will help us reach our $3 million capital campaign goal and start renovation later this fall."
