Green Power promotion launched

Special incentives for Puget Sound area electricity customers

Seattle, WA (October 13, 2005) — Seattle City Light, Puget Sound Energy and PCC Natural Markets have teamed up to offer special incentives for electricity customers who enroll in one of the utilities' green power programs. Now through January 31, 2006, customers of either Seattle City Light or Puget Sound Energy who sign up for renewable energy for their home will receive two gifts from PCC: a $10 grocery gift card and an organic cotton tote bag.

The "Buy Local and Green" promotion recognizes local purchasers of green power. Green power comes from Northwest renewable sources that don't pollute, such as the wind and the sun. Several enrollment options are available and start for as little as a few dollars per month.

As part of the promotion, PCC Natural Markets began purchasing green power to meet 10-15% of their electricity needs for all seven of their Puget Sound stores, making them one of the largest purchasers of renewable energy in the region. "Our company is focused on community and health, so signing up for green power makes sense for us, our employees and our customers," said Tracy Wolpert, CEO of PCC Natural Markets.

"We're thrilled to team up with Puget Sound Energy and PCC on this great promotion that will offer our customers a great option for helping address the impacts of climate change," said Jorge Carrasco, Superintendent of Seattle City Light. City Light recently launched a new green power program, Green Up, in response to customer requests. Puget Sound Energy's Green Power Program has been established since 2001 and is one of the largest in the country.
