FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Third Place and Honey Bear planned for PCC Ravenna site

Grocery store property being sold to Third Place Company

Seattle, WA (January 7, 2002) — PCC Natural Markets is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to sell its property at the corner of NE 65th Street and 20th Avenue NE to Third Place Company and the Honey Bear Bakery.

Third Place Co. (founded by Ron Sher) plans to open a Ravenna neighborhood Third Place complete with books, Honey Bear, and community gathering space at the location as soon as possible. Ron Sindelar, General Manager of Third Place Co., is "tremendously excited to bring some of the best elements of our Lake Forest Park store and integrate them in a new way in a location that has already been such an important destination in the Ravenna neighborhood."

PCC's Board of Trustees worked throughout 2001 to find a use that is compatible with the neighborhood and makes sense as well for PCC with its nearby stores in three other North Seattle neighborhoods.

PCC CEO Tracy Wolpert says, "The PCC Board personally reviewed a number of excellent potential uses of the site and is pleased to be able to arrive at an agreement with a use that has received so much written and verbal support from neighbors."
